Scrivimi! Messenger ("Scrivimi!", "we") is a private messenger for the LILYGO T-Deck, a small device with a real keyboard. An admin manages it from the Scrivimi! Messenger iPhone app. We built it to collect as little as possible. We have no ads, no tracking and no analytics SDKs, and we never sell personal data or share it for marketing.
1. Who Scrivimi! is for
- Not directed to children under 13. Scrivimi! is a general-audience messenger. It is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
- Minimum age. Everyone who uses Scrivimi!, including the person using the T-Deck, must be at least 13, or at least 16 in EU/EEA countries where that is the minimum age for consenting to online services without a parent. The admin who sets up a T-Deck must make sure its user meets this minimum age.
- We don't collect ages. We don't ask for or store dates of birth or ages.
- If you believe someone under the minimum age is using Scrivimi!, email us (section 10) and we'll delete the account and its data.
2. The admin and the T-Deck account
The admin creates the account in the iPhone app, pairs the T-Deck, and decides who the T-Deck can message. The admin can lock, erase or update the T-Deck, set quiet hours, and export or delete the T-Deck's data (section 6). The T-Deck only accepts commands and software updates that are cryptographically signed.
3. What we store
| Data | Whose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address, password (stored only as a salted hash), display name | iPhone app users (admins and members) | Sign-in and showing who sent a message |
| Network name and membership (who is Admin or Member) | Network | Deciding who can talk to whom |
| Device name (chosen by the admin), status, hardware/firmware version, last-seen time, approximate battery level, Wi-Fi network name, settings (e.g. quiet hours) | T-Deck | Pairing, delivery, device controls. Last seen, battery and Wi-Fi name are shown only to admins ("Find my T-Deck"). |
| Messages: text, emoji, reactions, photos, delivery/read ("Seen") receipts | Everyone in the chat | The messenger itself |
| Photos sent from the iPhone app (resized JPEG, location and other metadata removed) | iPhone app users | Showing photos on the T-Deck |
| Game state (chess, backgammon, checkers) | Players | Playing games |
| Weekly summary for admins: counts only (how many messages each person exchanged with the T-Deck, games played and results). Never message content. | Network | Optional weekly overview for admins |
| Push notification token, and a log of notifications sent (sender name and chat only, no content) | iPhone app users | Notifying you of new messages |
| Security log (e.g. "device locked", sign-ins) | Network | Security and abuse prevention |
| Server logs including IP address | Anyone using the service | Operating and securing the service |
Wi-Fi passwords you enter on the T-Deck are stored only on the T-Deck and are never sent to us. Daily puzzles are built into the firmware and don't send anything to us.
4. No voice or audio
Scrivimi! does not record, send or process audio. The T-Deck's microphone is switched off by the firmware, and neither the T-Deck nor the iPhone app has a voice feature.
5. How long we keep it
- Messages, photos, reactions and games are kept while the account exists, so you can see your history. They're deleted when you delete them (section 6).
- Weekly summaries (counts only) are kept while the network exists.
- Server logs (including IP addresses) are deleted after at most 30 days.
- Backups of the database are kept for 14 days and then overwritten, so deleted data disappears from backups within 14 days.
- Pairing codes and invites expire after a short time. Sign-in sessions expire if they aren't used.
6. Your data controls: export and delete
- Export your data: Settings → Account data → Export my data gives you a file with your profile, your groups, and the messages, photos, reactions and games you sent.
- Delete your account: Settings → Account data → Delete my account. This removes your profile and the messages, photos and reactions you sent. If you're the only admin, the whole network is deleted too, including its T-Deck pairing, messages, photos and games, and the T-Deck erases itself.
- Admin data controls: Settings → Admin & account data. An admin can export the network record (members, roles, devices, settings, game results and message counts, no message content), export the T-Deck's data (what the T-Deck sent), and delete the T-Deck data, which deletes it from the server and remotely erases the T-Deck.
- Remote erase: the T-Deck erases everything stored on it (credentials, Wi-Fi settings, cached messages) and returns to the pairing screen. It only accepts this command if it's signed by your network's key. Lock stops it working temporarily, for example if it's lost.
- Deletion is immediate on the live service, and backups clear within 14 days. You can also email us (section 10) to access, correct or delete your information.
7. Who we share data with
We don't sell personal information or share it for advertising, and we don't track you across apps or websites. We use a small number of service providers to run the service:
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure hosts our servers (United States).
- Apple Push Notification service delivers notifications to iPhones. Notifications never contain message content. They say only who wrote, e.g. "New message from Alex", or "Your weekly Scrivimi! summary is ready". No text or photos are sent to Apple.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
8. Security
All traffic is encrypted with TLS. Passwords and device secrets are stored only as hashes. The T-Deck only accepts lock, erase and update commands signed by your network's key, and only installs firmware signed by Scrivimi!. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you.
9. Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
