Install Scrivimi! on a LILYGO T-Deck
Install the firmware straight from your browser. There's nothing to download or set up.
Firmware: loading…
You need
- A LILYGO T-Deck or T-Deck Plus (ESP32-S3).
- A USB-C data cable. Some charge-only cables won't work.
- A computer with Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (Windows, macOS, Linux or ChromeOS). Safari, Firefox and phones aren't supported because they can't talk to USB devices.
Installing over USB erases the T-Deck's saved Wi-Fi networks and its pairing. The installer writes the whole flash, including the settings area, even if you don't choose to erase. Afterwards you choose Wi-Fi again and pair the T-Deck again with a new code from the iPhone app. Already set up? Update over the air from the app instead; that keeps everything.
Steps
- Put the T-Deck in download (boot) mode. Turn it off with the power switch on the left side. Then press and hold the trackball (the small ball in the middle of the keyboard), and while you keep holding it, plug in the USB cable or turn the power switch on. Wait 2 seconds, then let go. The screen stays dark. That's normal.
- Click Install below, choose the port that appears (often "USB JTAG/serial debug unit" or "ESP32-S3"), and click Connect.
- Confirm Install Scrivimi!. Erasing the device first is recommended (its Wi-Fi and pairing are replaced either way). Wait about 1–2 minutes and don't unplug the device while it installs.
- When the installer says it's done, press the reset button (or turn the power switch off and on). The T-Deck shows the Scrivimi! setup screen. Choose your Wi-Fi, then type the pairing code into the Scrivimi! Messenger iPhone app.
Already installed?
You only need this page once. After that, the admin installs new versions over the air from the iPhone app (device → Software update). The T-Deck checks that each update is signed by Scrivimi! before installing it, and goes back to the previous version by itself if the new one can't connect.
Troubleshooting
- No port appears: try another cable or USB port, and put the device back into boot mode (step 1). On Windows 10, if it's still missing, install the CH343 driver.
- "Failed to connect" or it stops partway: unplug, go into boot mode again, and retry.
- Screen stays black after installing: press reset, or switch the power off and on.
Checksums (SHA-256)
The installer writes one merged image at offset 0x0. To check a download, or to flash by hand:
